The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) was enacted in 2005 by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Canada. Its purpose is to improve accessiblity standards for Ontarians with physical and mental disabilities to all public establishments by 2025.
As of 2014, all new internet websites and web content for designated public sector organizations and large organizations must conform with WCAG 2.0 Level A.
By 2021, all internet websites and web content for designated public sector organizations and large organizations must conform with WCAG 2.0 Level AA.
If the above all sounds kind of confusing, but also very important, then this is the workshop for you!
In this session, Amy Colford and Megan Pollock will provide an overview of the AODA and the WCAG 2.0 Level AA accessibility standards, with activities that focus on identifying the good, the bad, and the ugly of web accessibility. You will leave the session with the basic tools and understanding for designing and developing web content that meets basic accessibility standards.
We recommend this workshop for designers, developers, QA, and anyone who is interested in ensuring the web content that they are delivering is accessible to everyone.
This workshop is for individuals of all skill levels.
You will need a computer for the activities in this workshop.
This event happened at the Zeitspace Waterloo office on Feb 25th, 2020. Kelly Pedro has a recap "Web accessibility is usability".
